These photos are so dreamy and scream spring I just couldn’t wait to share them!
Last weekend, I took another trip south into England to meet up with another fellow American blogger who is studying abroad. This time I met up with Kay from Chasing Kay Light and we explored the beautifully quaint town of Chester. It’s kind of a random city, but I found it on a list of the top ten cities in the UK and fell in love with the photos of Chester Cross. When I sent a photo to Kay we decided right then and there that that’s where we were going to meet up.
And omg I’m so glad we did because we found the best places for photo ops!! And some random guy gave us tulips (both of our favorite flowers!!) that we used as props for the photos.
Okay, but how cute is the black and white building!? A lot of the buildings in Chester have this kind of wooden work and it was one of the big reasons I wanted to visit. As I mentioned before, the Chester Cross was what drove Kay and me there. The Chester Cross is just like a little intersection and it’s gorgeous. Here’s a photo I took of it!
Kay and I also booked tickets for a little River Dee cruise!! It was super short, but we had a great time talking, pointing out cute houses, and snapping a few photos up on the top deck.
Similar Utility Jacket / / Similar Shirt / / Shorts (my absolute favorite!!) / / Oxfords (not exact but same brand) / / Similar White Neck Scarf / / Lipstick
After the cruise, we got some ice cream at a little shop and, of course, we took photos because we are typical bloggers. I got strawberry ice cream. Which was super weird because I don’t really like fruity things, but it was amazing and I was craving strawberry ice cream the whole week after that. I actually ate some before writing this post. LOL
About the outfit
I know you’re all thinking right now so I’m just going to address it upfront: yes I was wearing shorts. It was almost 60 degrees in Chester this day so um duh I was going to break out some shorts! However, it was also rainy so I was getting lots of stares walking around town. One of the employees at the river cruise even openly questioned me. I was like, “Guys. I lived in Washington for seven years where all it did was rain and stay like 50 degrees. Shorts is normal for me in this weather.”
Since I was baring my legs, I decided to keep the top really modest, and also warm because it’s always my upper half that gets chilly anyway. I decided on a colored long sleeve to match my new favorite lipstick and my utility jacket to add some contrasting proportion and keep me dry. The neck scarf I added last minute because the outfit still seemed to bare. I’m glad I did because it kept my neck warm and was really made this outfit seem springy! Neck scarves just scream warmer temps to me.
While Kay and I were walking back to the train station some guy actually cat called me! It was the first (and only) time I’ve been catcalled since coming to the UK. And I actually wasn’t offended at all because I loved what he said. What did he say? “You’re legs are fit as fuck.”
I’ll take it. 👌🏻
