Well, my birthday month is over. I think the worst thing about having a birthday at the beginning of the month is that the rest of the month doesn’t even feel special. But then again I don’t have to wait around for the big day all month long so that’s cool.

This month I also took my trip girls trip! Me and two friends road tripped it out to Virginia Beach for my 20th birthday! I also started my junior year of college. I’m officially old you guys. Or I guess mature is a better word to describe how I feel. Before starting classes back up I actually helped out with freshmen orientation again! It was a lot like last year, and you can read about that experience here!

Now that the recap is over, let’s get on into my favorites!

aerie swimsuit

Aerie swimsuit

I bought this one piece back in February as soon as I saw it on the Aerie site. There wasn’t a real chance to wear it until my birthday beach trip though!

I was a little nervous to wear it out in public for the first time since it’s super duper cheeky. But I felt so confident walking around in it on the beach and I’m kind of wishing I wore it both days we were there!

I also almost bought it in bright red when it went on clearance last week because Baywatch. But my bank account was saved when I found out the only sizes left were XL. (Catch me buying it when it comes back in stock though).

fake engagement rings from Wish

Fake engagement ring

As a lot of you know, one of my favorite things to do is to wear my grandmother’s old wedding band or engagement ring on my left ring finger. Sometimes I say it’s to ward off creepy boys, and other times I just like it when people think I’m married and ask about my kids. (Still waiting for someone to ask about my fake husband/fiance though. I already decided I’m going to describe Shawn Mendes if someone asks.)

Anyways, I feel like I started a trend, you guys! A few weeks before my beach trip one of my best friends texted through the group chat asking if we wanted fake engagement rings to wear while we were there. Um, yes please!!

She got them off Wish for less like $2 a piece and I have to say, for that price they look pretty dang convincing. I have now decided I want my future engagement ring to be set like this, but smaller of course. I know a diamond that size could be a little more than I would want my future fiance to pay.

We all got so used to wearing them that we all wore them on the drive home! And my hands felt so empty the next few days when I didn’t wear it.

cube shelf from Target

Cube shelf

Ever since I got hooked on HGTV back in the spring semester I’ve gotten super into decor. I knew I wanted my dorm to be more apartment-like this year, and not so much just posters thrown on the wall. So when I saw Target had cube organizers for only like $40 I threw (okay more like hobbled and shifted) one into my cart.

I immediately tore it open when I got back to my dorm, all set on getting it put up that night. Little did I know that I actually needed a screwdriver to put it together. I ended up trying to use a butter knife to get the screws in, but it was way too difficult and my hands started to feel raw so I gave up and texted my friends for a screwdriver. I was able to pick one up the following day and get it all together then. No hand injuries.

I’ve been having so much fun decorating it and clearing out my messy desk drawers to fill the shelves.

Also, peep those fake plants. I want to get a real one but I don’t know where to buy a succulent! Any ideas??

Also, if you have any tips for taking/editing pictures in super bad dorm lighting, hit a girl up.

NYX Micro Eyebrow Pencil

Hands down, this is the absolute best eyebrow product out there.

I don’t think I started doing my eyebrows until about four years ago, and now I don’t know how I ever went without it. Doing my eyebrows is honestly one of my favorite things to do, and sometimes it’s all I do. I swear it makes all the difference! When I do my friends’ make-up I always do their eyebrows and then they get hooked on doing them, too.

I’ve tried using normal pencils, powder, and wax to do my eyebrows. But nothing works better than this wax pencil from NYX. This is my third or fourth one. I took a break from it for three months because I got tired of dropping $10 for it, but I couldn’t live without it. I will continue to use this for the rest of my life.

One of the best things about it is that it comes two-sided! One side for the actual product and the other side is a spooly brush. And let me tell you, that spooly brush can make the biggest difference in creating spectacular eyebrows.

Milk Makeup blur liquid matte foundation

Milk Makeup

About a month ago I received a package from Influencer. Just looking at the outside of the box made me excited to open it because I knew it was going to be makeup.

Inside were two shades of Milk Makeup’s new Blur Liquid Matte Foundation and the dab and blend applicator. First off, can I talk about how aesthetically pleasing this packaging is? Like yes please.

The dab and blend applicator did nothing for me, and I’m not a foundation person. It was definitely more lightweight than other foundations, but I still feel like it was too high coverage for what I need. And when I say high coverage I mean it covered up my nasty forehead sun burn from the beach. #Bless

This foundation definitely does “blur” your imperfections like it says it will. It makes your complexion look smooth and flawless, except if you have fine lines because this will crease. I don’t use a primer though, so that may fix it.

I also love how online it tells you what undertones are in each shade because I can not tell by simply looking at the product.

Now I’m including this more for the brand than the product itself. As I said, their packaging is cute af, but they always have really great values. They are a cruelty-free brand and try to use as many natural ingredients as possible. I don’t go out of my way to look for brands like this, but I always appreciate them when I find them.

I may not be head-over-heels about the foundation, but I’m still using it every once in awhile. And now I have a new brand of make-up to steal my money because I’m really tempted to buy some of the other products they offer.

*I was sent these products for free from Influenster in exchange for testing and reviewing, but as always all opinions are my own.

Music Favorites

I discovered so many new amazing songs in August. A few that stuck around all month are:

  • Would You Mind by PRETTYMUCH – My new bop. I  want to go clubbing to this
  • New Rules by Dua Lipa – I’m all for sassy songs that remind me not to mess with ex’s
  • Feel it Still by Portugal. The Man  – Always fun to dance to
  • Boys by Charli XCX – Okay, but sometimes I listen to this song and wonder if I actually wrote it

Then I have Logic to add to that song mix. I’ve loved Logic’s 1-800-273-8255 song since it came out. But after his VMA performance had me and my roommate in tears, I had to listen to every other song he’s ever put out. And now all I can wonder is why I haven’t listened to this before!? He uses his platform to raise awareness about so many issues in the world and it’s so powerful. I love it. Plus, it’s great music to lift to.

If you love Logic, I would recommend checking out Witt Lowry, too!

What have you been loving?
