The Best Halloween Movies (& Shows) on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime

If you hadn’t already figured it out, ya girl is obsessed with Halloween and spooky season. We. Love. Creepy. Things. And there’s nothing better than a good creepy Halloween movie while snuggling up on your couch with your new Jack-O-Lantern fuzzy blanket.

But we don’t all have cable, or AT&T TV Now, or money to rent Hocus Pocus for the fifth time. Soooo I put together a pretty comprehensive list of all the best Halloween movies (and tv shows) that you can stream now!

I’ve divvied them up into three categories, depending on which streaming platform they’re on. So if you (or your super cool aunt) has Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime, you just found your next movie to stream.

Netflix

Halloween Movies

Scream (1, 3, 4) – I just watched the first Scream movie and I’m so mad at myself for not watching them sooner. Slasher movies are the best because they have all the gore and thrill, but add in so much comedy that you don’t go to sleep wondering if a masked man is inside your closet.

Coraline – I watched this once or twice as a child but never again. This movie scarred me for life. A creepy second mom who wants to gouge my eyes out and sew buttons over the holes? Why is this a kids’ movie again?

Casper – Very surprised I found this listed on Netflix but excited nonetheless. Casper is a Halloween icon.

Halloween TV Shows

Scream (tv show) – I watched the first two seasons of this years ago and was shook when they just uploaded a third season. I can’t wait to start watching this again. It’s perfect for any lover of the original Scream movies, anything slasher, or if you like Riverdale.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – A remake of a classic. Although, this is more spooky than the original tv show so if you’re looking for more of a thrill check this show out instead.

Supernatural – A spooky classic. I’ve been watching this show for almost six years now and I’m not even all the way caught up. If you binge through shows extra fast, this show is for you. Plus, the main two guys are so hot. Hi Dean Winchester.

Charmed – A classic show following three witches. Perfect for anyone who loves witches and doesn’t want anything with a scare factor.

The Haunting of Hill House – I absolutely fell in love with this tv show last autumn. It was inspired by the gothic classic published in 1959 by Shirley Jackson (the writer of Frankenstein). I was terrified and constantly checking dark corners in my bedroom while watching this. So maybe only watch it during the day?

Goosebumps (tv show) – Anyone else read Goosebumps as a kid? Not gonna lie, some of the books used to scare the crap out of me. The tv show is based on the books and is still scary, but set for a younger audience so don’t expect anything too haunting here.

American Horror Story – You want the real-life creep factor? Gore and zombies and witches and vampires and white supremacists radicals? Here ya go. American Horror Story will leave you scared af and rethinking life.

Hulu

Halloween Movies

Amityville HorrorWatch this even if you’re a chicken because the main guy is Ryan Reynolds. Can’t pass him up. Ryan and his wife move into a house where a former tenant murderer his own family. Aka things get spooky.

Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein – One of my all-time favorite Halloween movies as a kid! But just because I loved it as a little kid doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy it now as a twenty-two-year-old.

Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman – My actual favorite Halloween movies ever. Move aside Hocus Pocus, this cartoon movie always had my heart.

Children of the Corn – A horror movie classic. And why corn mazes scare the hell out of a lot of people. If you want an actual horror movie, watch this.

Poltergeist II – I’m a little disappointed only the second Poltergeist movie is available to stream because we all know the first one reigned supreme, but it’s still a good horror movie. If you think little kids are creepy, you’ll have a blast watching this.

Sleepy Hollow – You always here so many references to Sleepy Hollow, and that’s because of the classic book by Washington Irving and this movie it inspired. It’s a gothic romance more so than horror but still mixes in some nice supernatural elements.

Halloween TV Shows

Buffy the Vampire Slayer – Never got much into this show, but it’s basically the original Supernatural. It’s got all kinds of ghosts and monsters to keep your spooky season desires satisfied.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch – A childhood classic. If you love witches you’ll love binge-watching this tv show all fall long. And using all the Salem memes after realizing you relate to the evil cat so much in life now.

Amazon Prime

Halloween Movies

Scary Stories – Okay so this is actually a documentary, but don’t skip it!! If you ever read the “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” books as a kid you have to watch this. It’s about the creation of that series and how they were some of the most banned books every.

Corpse Bride – A Halloween classic that I’m surprised you can even get for free on Prime. All of Tim Burton’s other classics are pay only so I was pleasantly surprised to find Corpse Bride lists as included with Prime. You’ll totally catch me streaming this one night soon.

Halloween TV Shows

Lore – This is a two-season series created by own of my favorite podcast hosts, Aaron Mahnke. It started out as a podcast, then expanded into a book series and a tv series. Here you’ll find recreations of legends, ghost stories and just hard to explain events.

What’s your favorite Halloween movie?
