I recently realized that I’ve never really talked much about makeup products here on my blog. Which is weird because I feel like my outfit is never complete until I got a full face of make-up on. So here we are now!
Stay tuned to the end to watch my very first ever YouTube video. Say whaaaat? Yes I’m going to try and start a YouTube channel because I’ve wanted to start one for six years now. Hopefully, I can get a good vlog camera on sale during Black Friday!
Until then, here are my makeup favorites:
Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream
I’ve used this BB cream for about 6 years now. Wow, I just realized I may have my longest committed relationship with a makeup product. I guess that really just goes to show how amazing of a product it really is.
I picked this up for the first time back when BB creams first hit the market. I was super excited because it was just around when I was getting into makeup and I could not for the life of me find a foundation I liked. Every foundation I’ve ever used has always been too cakey, didn’t match my skin tone, or patchy. I don’t have any of those problems with this BB cream.
It’s definitely not full coverage, but BB creams never are. However, it does a really great job of evening out my skin tone and minimizing the redness in my face.
I’m currently wearing the shade light and light/medium. Gotta transition into my pale winter skin.
Colourpop Super Shock Highlighter
This was the first real highlighter I ever purchased and I am in love with the color payoff and formula. This is a creamy white (Stole the Show), not just straight up white, which I think makes it the perfect highlight for my skin tone. I’m all for a blinding highlight (like this one gives off) but I don’t need my face looking paler than it already does.
Okay, but can we just talk about the pigmentation of this real quick? Like Colourpop is not messing around. This highlighter is totally buildable and you can apply one the slightest bit to get a light sheen, but I like to usually do a medium to an insane amount. Like I said, I like a blinding highlight. Sometimes, when I pass a mirror I like to turn my head and look at how the light reflects off my cheekbones. Anyone else?
One last thing, this is SO SOFT. It literally feels like high-quality velvet, which makes it fun to apply.
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lipstick
I got my first Colourpop lipstick last Christmas, and then the obsession was born. These lipsticks stay on all day, even through eating if you apply them right! My favorite color is the one pictured above. It’s in the shade Tuesday and is a perfect red shade. Not too vibrant, and not too dark.
I have a total of ten lipsticks from Colourpop and I’m constantly wearing them. I think the ultra satin lips are my favorite formula though!
NYX Matte Bronzer
I’ll be honest, I’ve only ever tried two bronzers. This one and an e.l.f. one, so I don’t have the highest expectations, but I do like this bronzer a lot. I have the lightest shade (Light) but I still feel like it’s a little dark for my skin tone. Which makes me scared for winter because I’m not sure how it will hold up on my ghostly pale skin.
It is a bit on the oranger side, but I feel like that makes it look more like a tan than just a regular contour. I feel like my makeup isn’t complete until I put this on my cheeks, forehead, chin, and nose.
NYX Above & Beyond Full Coverage Concealer
I’m so picky about concealer. I really want one that works for everything: my under eyes and blemishes, and I feel like this one does a pretty good job at both. I have two other concealers, and one is a cult favorite (hi Maybelline Instant Rewind), but I like this NYX one better.
Although this claims to be a full coverage concealer, I don’t think it fully covers blemishes. At least not by itself. If used with a foundation it does cover any red bumps that rudely appear before my period. #girlstruggles
This concealer does crease under my eyes, but not nearly as bad as any other concealer I’ve ever used.
Also, I have the shade Fair.
I raved about this on the blog before and in basically every Instagram live I’ve ever done, but I just love it so freaking much you guys. I’ve literally bought like four or five of these because that’s how much I use it and love it.
One side has a spoolie and the other is a twist up pencil. I use the shade Taupe and it matches my roots perfectly!
Urban Decay NAKED BASICS
Unpopular opinion: I do not like the normal Urban Decay Naked Palettes. They’re too shimmery! So I love that they came out with a smaller, more everyday palette with mostly matte shadows. The only shadow that isn’t matte is Venus, which is the furthest left one that is actually all gone because I used to use it as a highlight.
My everyday eyeshadow look is Naked 2 (the only other one I’ve hit pan on) all over the lid and Faint (the dark brown) in the crease.
e.l.f Eyeshadow Primer
Girl, don’t you ever buy an eyeshadow primer that is more than $10. Actually, just only ever buy this primer because it’s only $2. And it works perfectly! My eyeshadow never creases when I use this unless I leave my makeup on when I go to the gym. But that’s understandable though.
NYX Happy Birthday Palette
I’m not sure if you can actually purchase this anywhere besides Ebay but it is the current birthday reward at Ulta. Sooooo you should sign up for Ulta’s reward program.
I was super hesitant about using this at first because I haven’t really worn colored eyeshadow since high school (I literally used to do green smokey eyes y’all. Who was I??), but after playing with it I fell in love! I haven’t used every shade in the palette, but when I get time to play I will totally try them all out.
If you want to know the colors I’ve been using a lot check out the video at the end of the post!
Revlon Colorstay Skinny Liquid Liner
One of the things I’m known for among my friends and family is my winged eyeliner. And this eyeliner is the secret behind it! The super small brush is what makes it easy to effortlessly create a straight line and not accidentally make the line too thick.
I actually took a break from this product a year ago and stopped doing winged eyeliner altogether because I could never get it to look right. Then I picked up this eyeliner and it was ten thousands times easier.
So if you struggle with getting thin and even lines, you should totally check this eyeliner out!
Bare Minerals Lash Domination Petite Precision Brush
I’ve tried at least ten mascara through-out my twenty years of life, and this is my all-time favorite. Like I literally shelled out $20 for this when I usually just buy the cheapest one on sale.
It’s honestly probably the brush and not the formula I’m obsessed with though. It’s so small and it’s great. I really despise big mascara brushes because they get mascara all over my eyes.
Now the most exciting part…. my first video!! I know it’s not the best quality, but I’m going to work on that! For now, enjoy!
