I’m Thankful for My Sister

Happy Thursday! You know what that means, another installment in my Thankful Thursday series!

This week I’m going to share why I’m thankful for my little sister.

I am beyond grateful that we became those sisters who are best friends. Just a few years ago, all we did was argue, but now I love hanging out with you and miss you all the time when I’m away at college. I wish we were closer in age so that one day we could dorm together. For now, I guess I’ll just have to get you to come over more often or I’ll just have to visit home more often. I’m so excited to come home this weekend, and that Thanksgiving break and winter break are quickly approaching.

I need more quality Caitlyn and Lauren time.

You never fail to make me laugh or smile, and I always love hearing stories about your crazy friends. I hope you tell your friends stories about the crazy things I’ve done, too. Speaking of your friends, thank you for including me in your sleepovers at the house this summer. It meant a lot to me for you to actually want me around when your friends were over.

Thank you for actually wanting to spend time with me.

I never thought I would say this, but thank you for stealing my clothes from time to time. It makes me feel like a cool big sister, and like I have an outstanding sense of style. (That doesn’t mean raid my closet on the daily though.)

Thank you for being undeniably you. I’ve told you this before, but I really admire how honestly you you are. You don’t pretend to be someone else, and you say and do whatever you feel like doing, even if some people might give you looks.

Thank you for singing and dancing with me in public. Thank you for signing Christmas carols with me in Hobby Lobby. Thank you for screaming We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together with me on the walks we used to take back in Washington. Thank you for making silly dance videos with me. Thank you for sharing my love of Justin Bieber, oh and Shawn Mendes, too. (I call dibs on Shawn though.)

Thank you for being an inspiration to me. You are the most dedicated 13-year-old that I know. You are going to go far in life with the dedication you have to soccer. Thank you for trying to teach me how to play soccer, even though I’m so bad I bruised my ankles in doing so.

Thank you for sharing my love of reading. I live for the nights when we sat up and told each other about the book we were reading or had just finished. Actually, I live for any night where we just sat in my room, or your room, and just talked. I especially cherish the nights when you fell asleep in bed with me. Even though you’re kind of a pain to share a bed with.

Thank you for trying to keep me cool and in the know. You taught me how to whip and nae nae and I will forever be grateful. Thank you for keeping me up to date on all the new slang, like savage, dope and fam.

Thank you for being my OG photographer. I think I first had you take a picture of me back in the 10th grade, so you’ve got four years and counting of photography experience. I always did tell you that I’m going to make you into a professional photographer, didn’t I?

Thank you for all the amazing cards and presents you have ever made me. I still have that birthday card you gave me that addressed me as Mrs. Hiddleston and I will never throw it away. But my favorite gift from you was what you gave me for my birthday this year.

Speaking of, before I get into anything else, can we just take a second and fully appreciate how thoughtful my sister is?

For my birthday this year, she filled up a little jar with tons of little notes, some are pictured below.

remember you're the queen not the princess

Ugh, I can’t get over how cute this was! I keep the jar by my bed, and just seeing it there, not even opening it, makes me instantly happier and grateful. A few of the notes I even tacked up on my inspiration board because I loved them so dearly.

Thank you for making me feel loved and for making me feel like an exceptional older sister.

Thank you for being the dopest (did I use that word right?) little sister out there.

Who are you thankful for in your life? Let me know in the comments below!
